Why Prayer Matters To Me And To God

12.01.25 | Prayer Matters | by Kristie Kenniston Tetlak

Prayer has become a more frequent part of my life lately. I’ll be honest it's something I know I should do more often. But even in my imperfect life, I’ve seen how prayer can shape our paths in ways we never expect.

This past Summer, I found myself praying for clarity about my future—asking God to show me if there was something more, something different He was preparing me for. Those quiet prayers led to an incredible opportunity, an offer to become the Director at Lambs of Faith Preschool. It was one of those “God moments,” where you feel like the pieces fell into place in a way only He could arrange.

But prayer has also carried me through heartbreak. Not long ago, my father passed away unexpectedly. In the moments of grief, when words failed and my heart hurt more than I could express, I found myself praying just to keep moving forward. Sometimes the only prayer I could manage was, “Lord, please give me peace.”

Through both joy and sorrow, I’m realizing prayer isn’t always about getting answers, it’s about staying connected to the One who walks with us through every season. God listens not because we pray perfectly, but because He loves us deeply.

So yes, I want to pray more. Not out of guilt, but because prayer is where I find strength, comfort, and direction, and where god reminds me that his presence never fades.
